Selena Quintanilla Series Review

Image
As you may know Netflix has produced a Series based on Selena during her up-rise to fame as the icon she is today. The series itself wasn't very well it didn't emulate the personality and charisma that Selena is known to have, she was very unsure of herself, shy and timid. The wigs from the show were not good either, they weren't blended and didn't really accurately represent the Quintanilla family. The story itself was well-written about the family's background and rise to fame and that it was a long journey to get to where they are today. It was primarily based on they're gigs in the 80's and the transition into the 90's. I did really like Abraham's character in the series, he was more motivational and always push his kids to be better. The humbling experience of playing the Dinos band in restaurant, and making lights out of peach cans. The commitment and strive to want to be successful, the downfall of struggling to come up with successful songs

Character Analysis (Batman and Joker)

Image
Add caption Batman and Joker are the two greatest comic book characters in comic book history in the DC universe. What makes them so interesting is the complexity of they're characters that stand-alone having their own film successful on they're own. Such as the Joker (2019) and the Batman trilogy by (Christopher Nolan) They're both great in side by side comparison, they're total opposites yet share the same motive of the stake of the future of Gotham City. Batman is a superhero with no superpowers, gadgets, intelligence and the motive to protect the innocent from crime with law and order. On the other hand Joker believes in a world of chaos and that people are condemned to fall apart of they're nature to resist order and overlook the protagonist.  Batman is the main protagonist in the story line and is driven to serve justice after the guilt and traumatic experience of losing both his parents when they were gunned down in the streets of Gotham, this led to the tran

(Quentin Tarantino Cultural Imprint)

Quentin Tarantino is a well known film maker that is known for his films to be unpredictable and violent films. He first earned widespread fame for "Pulp Fiction" before directing "Inglorious Bastards" and "Django Unchained" Personally, his films are a cultural classic and entertaining with great memorable dialogue that sparks conversation and are always circling social norms. You're on the edge of your seat and the plot is not predictable, the way the films are made is up to the films are to be interpreted by the audience. The series of all his films are interconnected the films' story line binds together like poetry. In Pulp Fiction, the main female protagonist played by Uma Thurman is at a restaurant talking to (Vincent Vega) about a story line that overlaps into his future film "Kill Bill" a feisty four group of females that were the fox force five. A blonde woman, the Japanese kung fu master, the french fox and black fox and th

(Why cinema fascinates me)

Cinema is the production of movies as an art of the industry. The short history on how moving images led to the modern invention of films are the Edison Company in the USA successfully developed the prototype of the Kinetoscope, one person at a time was able to view moving pictures.(1891)  (Cinematography or if it is hand drawn it is referred to as animation) Films were only a few minutes. By 1914 the establishment of many film industries were established, they had invested more money in production, distribution and exhibition) The First World War limited the film industry in Europe. In (1909) was when the distribution of color was added to films. Color was not widely used until the three color process in 1932. Sound wasn't added in films until the film (The Jazz Singer) the Warner Brothers' Vitaphone system was used for sound in the film with each reel of film. The experience that sparked my interests in how movies are made is when my parents took me on a long vacation in

(Why I am aficionado of Superheros)

Image
Superheros have distilled entertainment to generations of comic book lovers and has stood the test of time by dominating the cinema industry. Marvel and DC Comics have developed characters that are relatable and diverse based on the social norms of society and influences of history throughout decades. These characters have a silhouette that are recognizable and have caught the attention and interests of their audience by resonating the "universal themes" of life to younger audiences coming into the world of age as adolescents. Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko were the creative leading men of the comic book industry in the "Silver Age of Comics" They decided to go against a necessary stamp of acceptance to authorize the approval of comic books when they were working at the Marvel Timely Comics in 1939. (Comic Book Code) Stan Lee was on the bridge of quitting his job as a comic book writer from the strict conditions and the embarrassment of working in the e

Unstoppable (Bethany Hamilton)

Image
Bethany Hamilton is an American surfer born in Lihue, Hawaii. Her story captivated me because she endeavored a shark attack on her left arm in 03' and had to learn to adapt and overcome the challenges of life from a different perspective and show resiliency when there are difficulties in your life and you're not so sure where the outcome is going to lead you to. She is now a mother of two (tobias and wesley) and still persists to surf and inspire millions of people around the world that anyone can achieve their dreams. Bethany Hamilton  began surfing when she was 8 years old and gained her first sponsorship when she was 9 by (Rip Curl) and that was the start of her successful career as a professional surfer. Hedy Lamarr: (Actress and Secret Inventor)

Image
Hedy Lamarr was an actress in the "Golden Age" of Hollywood during the 30's and early 40's. She was debuted the title of "the most beautiful woman" in Hollywood. Although she was given this "Bombshell" outlook there was more to her than her appearance, her mind was beautiful as well she had a secret hobby of inventing that was overlooked in her time by both the Navy and the fame valuing "looks rather than intelligence" Her persistence in her early invention of "Frequency Hopping" in spectrum communications is what would led to the current inventions of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies.  Lamarr was born in Vienna, Austria in 1914. She developed the passion for "tinkering" from her father in his interests of "machinery" and the intricacy of how things worked. Her father would take her on walks and discuss the printing press or street cars. This embodied her intuition towards an inventive mindset

George Lucas changed cinema (Star Wars)

Image
George Lucas is a well known director and producer of movies. It took him a long journey to be able to produce the movies he had envisioned in his imagination. That's why he has the creativity and perseverance to invent the technology in order to produce the special effects for his best known movie "Star Wars" in 77'. This technology was called "Industrial Light and Magic" it illuminated objects to appear larger than they actually were like putting a ladybug under a microscope. This earned his title as a philanthropist and innovator of modern cinema. What made George Lucas' movies brilliant was that he was able to incorporate the essence of "anthropology" and "universal messages" in his films that stood out from other movies in Hollywood. Lucas actually intended to be a professional car driver until a fatal accident occurred before graduating high school. That's when he accidentally entered the industry in film-making, his

"How I developed a passion for Movies"

Image
What impacted my interest in movies is the first major movie that impacted my interests with cinema in the first place. The first major movie I remember watching is the hit blockbuster "Spider-Man" that was released in the early 00's that influenced my interest in comics, superheros and movies. My father bought me a DVD- player that was popular at the time before the invention of DVD's were released around '04. I would take that DVD player with me everywhere, I would always go to my local burger joint restaurant in town and watch movies wherever I went. It was the only activity that can calm children down in public, similar to the modern day i-Phone does for kids today. I would go to that restaurant every weekend with my family and the staff that works there got the "epiphany" to install televisions inside booths to resolute to a "family-kid friendly environment" You could suggest I influenced the idea to spoil kids in public wit
